Biography
At some point in the 860s, Ma'bad and his fellow villagers welcomed Chinese merchants while he concocted a plan to steal one of their wares and sell it for a profit between him and his cohorts. However, his plan backfired when his cohorts unknowingly stole a vase of toxic minerals similar to salammoniac that were meant for Caliph Al-Mu'tazz's royal alchemists. When the men opened the vase, the contained gases were accidentally released into the village, resulting in most of its inhabitants either dying or abandoning their homes.[1]
