Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll (Louisa Caroline Alberta; 1848 – 1939) was the fourth daughter and sixth child overall born to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.[1]
Biography
On 22 January 1866, Louise's mother wrote a royal correspondence to Earl John Russell saying that her daughter "Alberta" would accompany her to Parliament's reopening, as Victoria was still grieving Albert, who had died four years earlier.[2] On 6 February, Louise and her sister Helena[3] accompanied their mother in support of her first public outing since Albert's death. Despite heavy winds, two of their carriage's windows remained open so the trio could look out upon the civilians' enthusiastic faces.[4]
