Lagertha was a Norse shieldmaiden from what is now Norway who was the one-time wife of the Viking leader Ragnar Lodbrok. Through her relationship with Ragnar, she had a son named Halfdan.
As a Viking in her own right, Lagertha possessed a battleaxe that she often used in battles. At some point, the axe wound up in an abandoned settlement near Hadrian's Wall in what is now Yorkshire, England and was recovered in the 9th century by Eivor Varinsdottir, a Viking of the Raven Clan.[1]
