The Krypteia, described by King Pausanias of Sparta as the "hidden ones" were an elite military unit charged with the training of young Spartan men and the protection of the Two Kings of Sparta, up to and during the Peloponnesian War.
In 429 BCE, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was tasked by Pausanias with eliminating a number of Krypteia around Lakonia.[1]
