The Krokodilopolis Arena was a gladiatorial arena located in Krokodilopolis, in the Faiyum Oasis. During the 1st century BCE, Felix Martialis served as the owner of the arena.[1]
History
In 48 BCE, the Medjay, Bayek, traveled to the arena in search of Shadya's killer. There, he was reunited with his fellow Siwan and friend Kensa. Together, the two named themselves the Guardians of Siwa and challenged the arena, rising through the ranks and eventually confronting the Gallic brothers, Diovicos and Viridovix.[2]
Upon defeating the brothers, Bayek learned that the brothers' patron, Berenike–the Nomarch of Faiyum and a member of the Order of the Ancients known as the Crocodile–was the one responsible for Shadya's death. Upon learning of this information, Bayek left the arena, leaving Kensa behind.[2]
Sometime thereafter, Bayek returned to the arena, where he again challenged the Gallic Brothers, as well as The Slaver, and defeated them.[1]
Trivia
- It is an improvised arena repurposed from what appears to be an old temple.
