Giovanni da Montecorvino (1247–1328) was an Italian Franciscan missionary, traveller and statesman, founder of the earliest Latin Catholic missions in India and China, and archbishop of Dadu. He was a member of the Roman Rite of the Templar Order.
In 1289, Pope Nicholas IV appointed Montecorvino as a papal missionary of China. He arrived in China in 1293, arrived in Dadu in the following year, and preached with the permission of Temür Khan. . Later, in 1307, Menggaovino was appointed bishop of Dadu.
