Solving that little mystery is exactly why we collected these pages. This article contains an excess of information lacking citations or in need of having them updated. Please ensure that all content are appropriately sourced per the wiki's guidelines. |
A jiedushi (Chinese: 節度使) was a regional military governor of China. The position was established in the Tang dynasty, where they corresponded to military commands in the frontier to hold foreign enemies at bay. These military governors over time became de facto warlords with enough autonomy to challenge imperial rule. In 754, the jiedushi An Lushan did precisely this when he rose in rebellion against the court. [citation needed]
