Jack Oliver was a thief active during the late 17th century.[1]

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1696, during a dinner party at Lord Benedict Crystal's estate, Oliver dressed as a waiter and attempted to steal Rose Galloway's necklace, running away from her and her friend Omar Khaled, though the two managed to catch the thief together.[2] Oliver was arrested and put into Newgate Jail. Isaac Newton went into the cell to confront Oliver but was overpowered and strangled until Khaled appeared along with the jailer, who knocked out Oliver and took Newton to a physician.[1] Alone with Oliver, Khaled interrogated him, demanding to know who sent him for the necklace. After being threatened with the Assassin's Hidden Blade, Oliver revealed that his daughter had been kidnapped and the man responsible demanded the necklace in exchange before giving Khaled the extorter's address.[3]
