Ingólfr Arnarson (c. 849 – c. 910) was a Norse explorer who became the first permanent settler of Iceland alongside his wife Hallveig Fróðadóttir and foster brother Hjörleifr Hróðmarsson.

Some years after establishing the settlement that would become Reykjavík, Ingólfr's group struggled with the cold winters and lingering blood feuds. As such, he requested aid from King Harald Fairhair to send supplies and men in order to bring stability to the settlement, a request which the King accepted.[1]
