Hinotani Shrine

Hinotani Shrine was a shrine in southern Nabari Wilds in Iga, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe arrived at the shrine after finding a note from her "auntie" Matsu of her last trek being here. Seeing Matsu, Naoe heard her prayers before announcing herself. Emotional, Matsu hugged Naoe and they began to discuss all that had transpired. Naoe soon pushed to find Matsu a new place, to which Matsu pointed to a cabin where she spent in her youth but mentioned outlaws in the woods nearby. Naoe asked her to stay while she secured the area.[1]

Naoe returned back to the shrine to escort Matsu after saving two travelers Yoshiharu and his granddaughter Murasaki from a killer.[2][3] Matsu insisted that she find maggots while she ventured to the cabin alone. When Naoe left for Akami Shi Waterfalls, Matsu left the shrine to tend the travelers at the cabin.[2]
