The Helmschmied Armory was a family-run blacksmithing and armorers group from Augsburg, Germany who operated during the late 15th and early 16th century.[1] Around April 1478, the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore purchased a simple set of Helmschmied armor[2] before later acquiring a set of their finer Drachen Armor from 1489 during his time in Rome in the early 1500s.[3] The family's workmanship had greatly improved in the 20 years between releasing their first and second armor sets such that Drachen Armor was considered "the finest in foreign engineering" and had a base market price of 200,000 florins.[4] The Assassin Girolamo da Lucca also wore a set of Drachen armor and wielded a sword crafted with the same aesthetic.[5]
