The Gorgoneion Xiphos was a legendary xiphos inspired by the Gorgon Medusa, a creature in Greek mythology.
During the Peloponnesian War, the xiphos was in the possession of the Hydra, the Sage of the Gods of the Aegean Sea branch of the Cult of Kosmos. the Spartan misthios Kassandra obtained the xiphos after eliminating the Hydra and his ship Hyperion in the Aegean Sea.[1]

Behind the scenes
Gorgoneion is a Greek decorative element used as an amulet to ward off evil, depicting the head of a Gorgon. It was a common element used in buildings, on shields and even coins. True to this, the xiphos' guard depicted a face with snakes wrapped around it.
