Gisele was a servant at the Ealdorman's House of Essexe, England in the late 9th century.
Gisele hailed from Francia, as did the then-lady of Essexe, Estrid. The two of them were close and Gisele was very honest with Estrid about her feelings on Birstan and his thegns, seeing them as openly disrespecting Estrid with poor manners by consuming most of their host's food and drink.[1]
