Francesco Salviati Riario (1443 - 1479) was the Archbishop of Pisa at the time of his membership in the Templar Order, 1476. Francesco was also one of the Pazzi conspirators.

Biography

Early life

Francesco was convinced that he would be the next Archbishop of Florence, and was enraged when Lorenzo de' Medici stood in his way. However, the Templars rose to support his cause, viewing him as a useful ally.

Aiding the Medici murder attempt

Seeking revenge, the opportunity arose for Francesco and while his fellow conspirators attempted the murder, Francesco led his men into the city of Florence and they began the assault. The fight eventually led to an Assassin murdering Francesco and while his brothers fled, he did so aswell. Francesco exchanged clothing with a farmer, the farmer was hung, Francesco fled to his villa in Tuscany. Barricading himself inside it and surrounding himself with guards out of fear that he will be located and murdered.

Death

With himself barricaded inside his Villa, Francesco fears were correct and the Assassin hunted him down. Ezio Auditore da Firenze soon infiltrated the Villa and got past the guards of Francesco. Opening the gates, Ezio let in Mercenaries that were under instruction of his Uncle Mario and a battle roared in the Villa. Blows were dealt and words were exchanged but in the end, Francesco was taken down. He revealed that the Templars would meet at night and that they suspected Ezio to track them but before anymore information could be obtained, the wounds proved too great and Francesco met his end.

Final words

Francesco's final moments.

Ezio: Where is Jacopo?

Francesco: He knows you come for him... emerging only in darkness to meet with the others...

Ezio: That answers when... Now tell me where? La fede dovrebbe dare conforto, non pena. (Faith should bring comfort, not pain.) Requiescat in pace. (Rest in peace.)

Trivia

  • In real life, Archbishop Salviati was the main instigator of the conspiracy, not the Pazzi family. He was supposed to kill Gonfaloniere Petrucci and take hold of the Palazzo della Signoria. However, he was arrested by Petrucci, and hanged by a mob from the window of the Sala dei Duecento, next to Francesco de' Pazzi.
