The Engineer (real name: Gaspar de la Croix) is a multiplayer character in the upcoming game, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. It is stated by Ubisoft that he might make an appearance in the single-player mode in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood as well as the other multiplayer characters. His weapon used for assassinating is a compass as seen here at 0:17. This videoshows how he kills his target in recent BETA gameplay. His name is Gaspar de la Croix.

"De la Croix" is French for "of the cross" this is almost certainly a reference to his Templar origins.
