Emerald is a precious stone of green coloring. It is traditionally been considered precious above all others, together with amethyst, sapphire, ruby, and diamond.
History
During the Reconquista, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins used emerald in order to create various weapons, accessories, and pieces of armor.[1]
Among the many treasures collected by the pirate Alonzo Batilla were a pendant from the shipwrecked Spanish galleon San José, an Aztec emerald,[2] an emerald broach inset in gold from the sunken Nuestra Señora de Atocha,[3] and an emerald clover.[2]
