Dunwic

Dunwic was a fort in the southeast of East Anglia, England. It was located on the eastern shore of the region, facing the North Sea.

During the late 9th century, Vikings from Rued's clan controlled the fort, which they used to plan an attack on the nearby Anglo-Saxon town of Norwich in 873. After learning of this plan, the group consisting of Oswald, Eivor Varinsdottir, Finnr, Broder, Brothir and Valdis travelled to the fort to summon and face Rued and his clan. After Eivor cleared the fort of the Vikings, she and the group lit a fire brazier, awaiting Rued's arrival.[1]

Later on, Oswald faced Rued in a duel which culminated in both of them falling off the edge of a platform to their apparent deaths. Afterwards, Oswald's group then fought their away through Rued's men to escape from the fort.[1]

Some time after these events, Eivor returned to the fort and recovered a nickel ingot from a chest and a Book of Knowledge.[2]
