Delaware is a state in the northeastern region of the United States, bordered by Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. It was one of the thirteen colonies that claimed independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
History
In pre-colonial times, the Lenape settled the Delaware River.
During the American Revolution, the Patriot cause was unpopular in Delaware due to the influence of the Templars. Ratonhnhaké:ton sent his apprentices to Sussex County and identified their agent. After killing them, the Colonial Assassins gathered the newly heard supporters of independence to form a regiment.
In 1777, the British Army took control of Wilmington after defeating William Maxwell's forces at the Battle of Cooch's Bridge. The Assassins were suspicious that governor John McKinly surrendered the city without a fight and kidnapped him for questioning. He was subsequently freed. Caesar Rodney was elected President of Delaware the year after and held the Delaware River against the Royal Navy with the aid of the Aquila.
