"David trekked through jungle deep, faith and morals he would keep. His tales filled newspaper columns. Then no word. No one saw him!"
―An initiate describing Livingstone, 2013.[src]

David Livingstone (19 March 1813 – 1 May 1873) was a Scottish Christian missionary and explorer. While exploring the jungles and rivers of Africa, Livingstone became famous in British media before disappearing for several years.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Having made several missions to the continent of Africa between 1841 and 1866, on Livingstone's last mission he decided to stay in Africa. By 1869,[1] he was presumed dead by British newspaper outlets due to his failure to return or send word back.[2]

In 1871, the explorer Henry Morton Stanley found him in Ujiji,[3] a village by Lake Tanganyika[2] within the Sultanate of Zanzibar, alive and well supposedly asking, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"[1]
