The Common Sword was a bladed weapon obtainable during the Italian Renaissance, it was notable for being the first sword that the Assassin Ezio Auditore received.
Finding the sword in one of his father's trunks, the young Assassin took it with him to the Auditore execution.[1] However, the sword was disarmed from him by a brute, and left behind when Ezio fled the area.[1] Later, Ezio was gifted a similar blade by his uncle Mario upon his arrival in Monteriggioni in 1476.[1]
In 1500, when the army of Cesare Borgia attacked Monteriggioni, an older Ezio used the Common Sword again in the town's defense, due to the loss of the Sword of Altaïr in the wreckage of the Villa Auditore.[2] Ezio then continued to use this sword in conjunction with the hidden gun for an unspecified length of time after his arrival in Rome.[2]
