Cologne (German: Köln) is a city located in present day Germany and in the Renaissance it was located in the Roman Empire. During this time, a guild of the Assassin Order was based in the city and received aid from Ezio Auditore da Firenze's Italian guild.
Renaissance
Apprentices from the Roman Assassins Guild traveled to Cologne to meet with Conradus Celtis, a scholar who had discovered things about the Assassin Order through his thorough research. The Assassins managed to persuade him to keep his research hidden, to which Celtis agreed.[1]
Not long after that, Elector Friedrich der Weise decided to found a school in Cologne. This school would question the activities of the Borgia. The Borgia prepared a large bribe to prevent him from executing his plans.[1]
The Assassins learned of the bribe and intercepted the guards that were to delivering the the money. They dressed up to make the Borgia believe the money was stolen by bandits, After which they used the money as an anonymous gift to the school.[1]
