This individual was a hitman based in Chicago.
Biography
On 30 May 2014, he was hired to take out Olivier Garneau, CCO of Abstergo Entertainment and ally of the Templar Order. After attacking and destroying his vehicle on the freeway, the hitman shot Garneau as he tried to crawl away.[1] The hitman's actions, however, were covered-up by the company and kept deep under wraps.[2]
Legacy
In late 2017, CCTV footage of the assassination was obtained by Layla Hassan, which she kept in her personal files on other mysterious disappearances and deaths related to Abstergo Industries.[1]
Behind the scenes
The CCTV image of the man is an allusion to Aiden Pearce, the main protagonist of the first Watch_Dogs game game, as the two are identical in appearance. In Watch_Dogs, the player is assigned a target by the name of Olivier Garneau in the mission "Requiescat In Pace", and has the option of either incapacitating him through non-lethal means or killing him outright. Despite Garneau's profile in both games matching perfectly, Ubisoft has declared the connection between the two to be non-canonical "Easter eggs", rendering the crossover unofficial.[3]
