Lancelot of the Lake (French: Lancelot du Lac), also written as Launcelot and other variants, was one of the members of the Knights of the Round Table in Arthurian legend. At one point, he presented a sword to Gareth, a fellow member of the Round Table who used it to defeat the Black Knight.[1] As King Arthur's best friend, he inadvertently ended up betraying him in a series of events that led to the former's death.[2]
