Beonton

Beonton was the pet dog to the King of Northumbria, Halfdan Ragnarsson.

Biography

The Fight for Northumbria

In 876, Beonton aided his owner and the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan to confirm Halfdan's suspicions about traitors in his ranks. After finding his scout dead, Halfdan had Beonton follow the scents of the criminals who killed Olav, his scout. Arriving at Petuaria Ruins, Beonton led Eivor and Halfdan to investigate and later to find Ulf and his men responsible for keeping riches for themselves and accidentally killing Olav. Thus, Halfdan followed suit by dueling out the appropriate punishment.[1] After a series of events, Beonton found himself besides his master, Halfdan, who decided to wear the crown as King of Northumbria and make amends with his longtime friend, Faravid.[2]

However, Beonton followed Halfdan to Picheringa, as Beonton's owner was mourning over his loss of friends and family. Before Eivor came to help Halfdan, Beonton left Halfdan with his owner's war hammer. Beonton found himself in Dalby Forest, where he was surrounded by three wolves. However, Eivor came to help and she and Beonton defeated the wild creatures. Soon, Beonton was brought to Halfdan at Scarborough as Eivor convinced Halfdan to return to Jorvik to continue his rule as king.[3]

Behind the scenes

After Halfdan becomes as ruler of Northumbria, Beonton can be seen by his side near the throne.
