The Naxian Sphinx is a marble statue of a Sphinx atop a pillar within the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece, placed next to the temple of Apollo.
History[edit | edit source]
The monument was consecrated by the Naxians as a votive in memory of their privilege to consult with the Pythia before others.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the statue was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The model of this statue is widely used throughout Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, including as a figurehead for the ship Adrestia.
