The Bishop's Residence was an Anglo-Saxon conference building for the clergymen in Wincestre, Hamtunscire.
History
In 877, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan was given a key by Bishop Ealhferth's sister, Harriet, to a secret room below the Bishop's Residence. Eivor travelled to the residence and investigated the area, finding the door Harriet had mentioned. The door led Eivor to find another Temple of Mithras and more clues about the Order of the Ancients' influence over England.[1]
In 878, a priest named Ealric was given a task by King Alfred the Great to convince Bishop Denewulf to aid him in his cause of strengthening Wincestre's defenses. Ealric went to the Bishop's Residence and successfully persuaded Denewulf to lend his support for Alfred's cause.[2]
At some point during her travels, Eivor ventured into the residence and found a chest, from which she obtained the Thegn's Cloak.[3]
