Barnabas (unknown - 1191) was the Cypriot Resistance leader in Kyrenia. He actively supported the Assassin Order in moving against the Templars, and was executed for his efforts. He was well known by Alexander of Limassol, and both frequently exchanged letters until the time of his death.
Biography
Death
Barnabas was assassinated shortly before Altaïr arrived in Kyrenia by a Templar agent, who then impersonated him and tricked the Mentor of the Levantine Assassins, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, into killing Jonas, a respected member of the resistance and a merchant.
Barnabas' head was decapitated, and later put in a burlap sack to be delivered to Alexander, the resistance leader of Limassol, by Shalim, on the orders of the Templar Grand Master Armand Bouchart.
Altaïr had already pieced together the fact that the man he encountered was not the real Barnabas. Once he inspected the head, he revealed the truth to Alexander about the Templar agent's plan to trick them.
