Avaris, also called Haat-wurat, was the Hyksos capital of Egypt.
History[edit | edit source]
In the 16th century BCE, the city was attacked but its defenses held fast because of the Hyksos warriors, prolonging Pharaoh Khamudi's reign for many years until its inevitable fall.[1]
By the 3rd century BCE, a sword from the city had made it's way to Krete where it was obtained by the misthios Kassandra.[2]
