A zeppelin

A zeppelin is a type of rigid airship, used for transport or aerial bombardment. The German army used zeppelins during their bombing raids of London in World War I. However, during one such raid in 1916, the British Assassin Lydia Frye, on the orders of Winston Churchill, shot down several of the attacking zeppelins using an anti-aircraft gun.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Zeppelins have an internal structural framework or a keel, making them rigid, unlike their non-rigid counterparts, blimps.
