The Maya city of Chichen Itza in the peninsula

The Yucatán Peninsula is a bi-land separating the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf of Mexico.

History[edit | edit source]

The Yucatán Peninsula's east coastline held an ancient Maya city of Tulum. The city served as the headquarters of the Caribbean Assassins until 1722, when they relocated to Great Inagua in the Bahamas.[1]

The pirate Edward Kenway ventured to the peninsula in 1719. After ending a quick meeting with Bartholomew Roberts, Kenway discovered the Templar Benjamin Hornigold had been following him. Edward disabled Hornigold's ship, evaded his crew, and eliminated Benjamin in Santanillas.[2]

In 1751, the Templar Rafael Joaquín de Ferrer discovered two First Civilization Temples under the Maya city of Chichen Itza.[3] The Templars subsequently established a worksite and began to excavate the ruins in search of a Prophecy Disk. In 1769 and 1772, the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré visited Chichen Itza and recovered the two halves of the Prophecy Disk.[4][5]
