Around 810, Xex lent Maryam some money to help her start her mobile brothel, along with other wealthy benefactors, though she did not pay him back in full, keeping him as a silent partner for the political passage he granted her and her employees, guaranteeing a certain level of protection for them and a consistent payout for him.[1]
