William Wickham (1761 – 1840) was an British spymaster.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Born in Yorkshire, England, Wickham originally took up law in Geneva, Switzerland[1] before joining the army of King George III, where he attained the rank of lieutenant-general. During the French Revolution, he organized a spy network based in Switzerland and France to coordinate with French Royalists and combat the Terror. After the Thermidorian Reaction, he returned to England and died peacefully in 1840.[2]
