Veracruz is a major port city and municipality in the state of Veracruz in Mexico.

In the early 18th century, Veracruz was experiencing a wine shortage that was solved with the help of pirate Edward Kenway, who supplied the general stores through his fleet.[1] He also fulfilled the request of a rich man for quality tobacco.[2] In the late 18th century, the de Grandpré company, under the administration of Aveline de Grandpré, conducted business in the city, importing and exporting a variety of products.[3]
