St. Augustine is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, having been founded by the Spanish in 1565.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
In the early 18th century, pirate Edward Kenway supplied the old Spanish village with wine, despite the rumor that their merchants could be impulsive dealers.[2]
In 1773, the Colonial Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton completed a number of privateering contracts to reduce the risk to ships on the shipping lane to St. Augustine. These included sinking British vessels,[3] such as the Saint James,[4] and protecting the trading frigate Henderson.[5]
