Arman (died 867) was a member of the Order of the Ancients in Constantinople.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 867, working under his leader Isaac, Arman followed Isaac's plan with Emperor Basil I's blessing to invade the emperor's palace and assassinate their targets, Basil's son Leo and his nurse Anna. Arman and other members of the Order infiltrated the palace easily because the children's wing guards were poisoned by their inside man Theodore, Leo's tutor. At one point, Arman almost captured the boy, but Leo fought him off and escaped, hiding from his assailants in one of the garden's fountains.
