Sinis was a bandit who lived within the Isthmus of Poseidon in Greek mythology.

History[edit | edit source]

According to legend, Sinis occupied a road located between what later became the Sanctuary of Isthmia and the Port of Kechries. There, Sinis tortured unwary travellers who passed by the area by tying them to bent trees and then releasing the trees, tearing the travellers apart. Eventually, Sinis' misdeeds were discovered by the Athens-bound hero Theseus, and Sinis was slain.[1]
