Shi Xiangnu (史像奴) was the deputy squad leader of the 15th Squad, an elite unit of crossbowmen in the Anxi Protectorate 7th Army. His immediate superior was Zhang Huaigu, and their squad fought at the Battle of Talas in 751 with the rest of the Tang forces under General Gao Xianzhi's command.[1] There, they suffered a crushing defeat to the Abbasids.[2]
