The Rostam Sword was a weapon named for the legendary hero Rostam.
In the 860s, the Alamut Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq received the sword as thanks for escorting a weapons dealer allied with the Zanj rebels out of Baghdad.[1] After receiving upgrade schematics as rewards for killing a slave catcher[2] and their slave trader,[3] Basim later refined the weapon with the help of local blacksmiths.[4]
