The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum, also known as the Forum Magnum or simply the Forum, is a central location in the Italian city of Rome, surrounded by the ruins of several ancient buildings and temples. It lies at the foot of the Palatine Hill.[1]

By the time of the Renaissance, the city had grown around the Forum, and it was a busy meeting place.[2] The site was used for several events such as public speeches, criminal trials and gladiatorial matches. It was also known as the epicenter of commercial affairs, and was populated with the statues and monuments of the city's great men.[3]
