Richard Altman (died 1888) was an English actor who worked at the Adelphi Theatre in London, United Kingdom. In the autumn of 1888, his understudy Woody Shinnings stabbed him to death and avoided capture while the Metropolitan Police Service and Scotland Yard were preoccupied with Jack the Ripper's murders in Whitechapel. However, the British Assassin Evie Frye later apprehended Shinnings and delivered him to Inspector Frederick Abberline.[1]
