Eivor exploring the abandoned bureau

The Ratae bureau was one of the bureaus established by the Roman Hidden Ones, located beneath a temple complex in the Roman town of Ratae, which eventually became the city of Leicester in England.

History[edit | edit source]

The bureau was established at some point prior to 164 CE, when a contract was issued for a Hidden One to oversee the Roman forces' retreat from the Antonine Wall, a task successfully undertaken by Magister Eghan. Around 423, Magister Vitus ordered the Hidden Ones' evacuation from Britannia and directed them to the bureau in Cologne, Germania. The Ratae bureau was subsequently abandoned along with the other Hidden Ones safehouses.[1]

In the 870s, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir, tasked by Hytham with uncovering England's abandoned bureaus, discovered the Ratae bureau and recovered a page from The Magas Codex and the gloves of a Hidden One.[1]
