Periphetes was a bandit who roamed the road from Athens to Troezen in Greek mythology.

History[edit | edit source]

Periphetes wielded a bronze club that he used while attacking unsuspecting travelers. He was later killed by the King of Athens Theseus in Argolis while the latter was returning to Attika.[1][2]

By the 5th century BCE, a site where Periphetes allegedly died was dedicated to him near Epidaurus.[3]
