Periander (died c. 585 BCE) was the Tyrant of Korinth, whose reigned from 627 to 585 BCE brought about a prosperous time in the polis history and made it one of the wealthiest city states in Greece.

During Periander's reign, the seaport town of Lechaion was built which served as a a port for Korinth. He also erected a monument for his wife after he slew her in a fit of jealousy.[1]
