Anthony Stewart Head (born 1956) is an English actor and singer.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early life[edit | edit source]

Anthony Head was born on 20 February 1956 in Camden Town to Seafield Head, a documentary filmmaker and a founder of Verity Films, and actress Helen Shingler. His older brother Murray is also an actor and singer. He was educated at Sunbury Grammar School and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).[1]

Early career[edit | edit source]

Head's first role was in the musical Godspell in the mid-1970s, which later led to him being cast in Enemy at the Door in a minor 2-episode role in 1978. He is best known for his role as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1997 until 2003, Prime Minister Michael Stevens the comedy series Little Britain from 2003 to 2006, and Uther Pendragon in the BBC series Merlin that lasted from 2008 until 2012.[1]

Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]

Head was announced to be a part of Audible's original Assassin's Creed audio-drama Assassin's Creed: Gold in November 2019.[2] Although his part in voicing the English mathematician Isaac Newton was not revealed until February 2020, close to its release. It was then unveiled on the platform on 27 February.[3]
