Otto I (912 – 973), also known as Otto the Great or Otto of Saxony, was King of Germany from 936 and Holy Roman Emperor from 962 to his death.

Biography[edit | edit source]

At some point, Otto acquired an ornate dagger, which was actually the Devotion Prong of the Trident of Eden. Around 965, he met the Danish king Harald Bluetooth and convinced him to convert to Christianity. He later offered his dagger to Bishop Poppa, who conducted Harald's baptism, before the dagger was gifted to the Danish king on Otto's behalf.[1]
