Oinomaos was a King of Pisa and the son of the Greek god of war Ares and a forefather to the House of Atreus through his daughter Hippodameia in Greek mythology.
Biography[edit | edit source]
According to the myth, Oinomaos was forewarned that he would die because of his son-in-law. Because of this, he challenged everyone who sought his daughter's hand in marriage to a chariot race, and killed them. This lasted until along came Pelops, who won thanks to the help of the god Poseidon. Oinomaos, meanwhile, was dragged to death by his own horses.[1]
Oinomaos owned a residence which was located in the Valley of Olympia, northeast of Sanctuary of Olympia in Elis.[2]
