"There is no bond stronger than the ties of blood."
―Nadya to Daniel Cross, 2002.[src]
A young Nadya

Nadya Nikolaevna Orelov (born c. 1910s) was the daughter of Nikolai and Anna Orelov.[1] She was also the elder sister of Innokenti Orelov, and as such, a great-aunt to Daniel Cross.[2]

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1917, Nadya was present with her parents when Nikolai exhumed the body of Grigori Rasputin to obtain his shard of the Imperial Sceptre, one of the Staves of Eden. The following year, the family fled Russia to escape the chaos of the Revolution and moved to the United States to begin new lives.[1]

During the Palmer Raids of 1919, Nadya and her mother were separated from Nikolai and Innokenti, and were deported back to Russia. The Assassins later claimed that they had overseen Nadya's and Anna's safe return to Russia, saying that "the Brotherhood takes care of its own."[2]

Nadya married and had at least one child, a son. She also held onto the Imperial Sceptre shard given to her by her father, unaware of its true nature. Many years later, in 2002, she met a young man in a church in Moscow and remarked his resemblance to her son, not realizing that the man was her great-nephew Daniel Cross. After Daniel claimed that he was not from Russia and that he had come to "visit family", Nadya advised him that "there is no bond stronger than the ties of blood" before Daniel left the church.[2]

Personality and traits[edit | edit source]

Nadya displayed her Russian Orthodox faith by wearing a necklace with the three-barred Russian Orthodox cross.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Nadya is a diminutive of the Russian name Nadezhda, meaning "hope." Orelov is a foreign name and is most similar to "Orlov", which means "son of eagle."
