Mount Olympos or Olympus is regarded as the highest mountain in all of Greece.
Within human prehistory, during the Isu Era, Olympos appears to have been the residence of the Isu Zeus, who held authority over the Sister Realms of Elysium,[1] the Underworld,[2] and Atlantis.[3]
Influence[edit | edit source]
Believed by the Greeks of classical antiquity to be the home of numerous gods, including the the mightiest, Mount Olympos features heavily in Greek mythology. Due to this, the Spartan misthios Kassandra invoked the place a number of times herself, and encountered numerous people mentioning it throughout her journeys during the Peloponnesian War.[4]
Empedokles, a man believing himself to be one of the gods, believed that the Isle of Thisvi and the cavern within it served as the gateway to Mount Olympos.[5][6]
In 1st century BCE, people of Greek origins referenced Mount Olympos on occasion, including Phoxidas[7] and Esiocles.[8]
During the Renaissance, Mount Olympos was memorized in the inscription of the statuettes of the god Jupiter and goddess Minerva in Monteriggioni, Italy.[9]
In 18th century Paris, Mount Olympos was referenced by Philippe Rose as a synonym for the greatest height.[10]
