The Leonidaion was a large guesthouse within the Sanctuary of Olympia, Greece.
History[edit | edit source]
Named after its architect, Leonidas of Naxos, the Leonidaion served as a lodging and feasting place for important visitors to the Sanctuary.[1]
During the 428 BCE Olympics, the judges Kallias and Demophanes hosted their habitual feast at the Leonidaion, with Alkibiades joining his old friends in celebrating the event. Following the beginning of the Pankration event[2] Alkibiades fell ill, and his friend the Spartan misthios Kassandra investigated Leonidaion, finding the rest of the guests dead, and the name of the merchant responsible for the supplies for the party: Priam.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The building's presence in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is anachronistic, as it was not erected until 330 BCE.
