The Kingdom of Gwynedd was a Welsh feudal state formed following the collapse of the Roman Empire. Though several rulers of Gwynedd, such as Rhodri the Great, made attempts to unite Wales and become "King of the Britons", they were never able to maintain peace for long.[1]

The land was ultimately absorbed into the Kingdom of England following its conquest by Edward I in the 13th century.[2]
